SVSN Update
SVSN has been working hard on its governance and representation structures to become a more effective voice for the Voluntary and Community Sector in Somerset.
SVSN is also keen to expand its membership to include infrastructure organisations from a wider range of sectors. This work is underway and the website will be updated as our membership changes.
New Project: Strengthening the Voluntary Sector in Somerset.
Recruitment is now underway for the development workers who will be based within Somerset infrastructure groups.
The project will also support
- Specialist work related to Children and Young People’s services
- Volunteer infrastructure
- the needs of VCS groups working within Adult Health and Social Care Sector
- An annual Somerset VCS campaign event
A key feature of the project will be multiagency working, networking, sharing practice and the development of a one-stop shop of expertise for the voluntary and community sector.

Compact Working Group
The Somerset Compact is currently being reviewed by a multi agency working group including representatives from NHS Somerset, the district councils, Somerset County Council and the Somerset VCS.
